100 Miles for Riley
For Kurt Ludington, supporting Riley Hospital for Children isn’t just a cause. It’s personal. Kurt is part of the father-son team behind SLB and a proud Riley grandfather. His family’s connection to Riley began with his grandson, Michael. Born in 2011 with significant medical challenges, Michael received care and support from Riley throughout his life.
Kurt and his family credit Riley’s dedicated team with giving them eight precious years with Michael before he passed away in 2020. That experience inspired a commitment to give back. What began as a way to honor Michael has grown into an incredible community of supporters through SLB Cares. Since 2022, their annual fundraiser has raised more than $1 million for Riley, including more than $460,000 in 2025. This year, they’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $500,000 more for Riley kids and families. And this year, Kurt is taking that commitment one step further.
Well, about 100 miles further. Kurt will set out on foot from northwestern Indiana and make his way to Indianapolis, taking on a 100-mile walk in support of Riley kids and families. The walk adds another chapter to Kurt and his family’s longstanding commitment to giving back to the hospital that means so much to them. For Kurt, every mile is an opportunity to honor Michael, recognize the people at Riley who cared for his family and help ensure Riley can continue being there for children and families when they need it most.
